Intellum Acquires Appitierre, Maker of The Evolve Content Authoring Tool

Customer education leader and content authoring visionary announce acquisition at new industry event aimed at refining the science of corporate learning.

ATLANTA – October 17, 2019 – Intellum, the leader in customer education and employee learning software and solutions, today announced that it has acquired UK-based Appitierre, the maker of the Evolve content authoring tool and the learning management system, Bloom.

Industry pioneer Intellum has been delivering innovative learning, social collaboration and performance tracking solutions to some of the largest and fastest-moving brands in the world for almost 20 years. Intellum combines the best of customer experience with customer education to help companies like Google and Facebook present meaningful information, in a highly-engaging way, to drive user behavior at scale.

Founded in 2014, Appitierre introduced Evolve, an intuitive, cloud-based tool that allows anyone to quickly develop modern, engaging eLearning content without the learning curve or expertise required to utilize traditional authoring tools like Articulate or Adobe Captivate. Evolve has become extremely popular with tech companies like Google and Facebook, as well as marketing agencies and practitioners, because users can create, edit and deploy stylish, responsive HTML5 experiences much faster, and at a much lower cost than they can with other tools. In 2017, Appitierre launched Bloom, a cloud-based learning management system that is aimed primarily at small and medium-sized businesses.

"Daryl invented a new way of consuming learning content in 2013 with the introduction of vertically scrolling learning experiences and I've always admired the significant impact it's had on the learning industry. I've also watched closely as he's continued to innovate through the products that Appitierre has built. After working together successfully to support some of the biggest brands in the world, it just made sense to join forces with a team that's accomplished so much in such a short amount of time," said Chip Ramsey, Chief Executive Officer of Intellum. "Successful learning initiatives require two things: learning technology that people actually want to use, and great content. This acquisition brings together the best learning platform and the best authoring tool, ensuring that our collective clients can now deliver learning experiences that actually drive business results."

“We've been extremely close with Intellum for several years now, and one of the most prominent pieces of feedback we get from our shared clients is that Intellum is always customer-focused, always ready to help and has amazing products, which makes joining such an innovative company an exciting proposition for us,” said Daryl Hedley, Co-Founder and Lead Architect of Appitierre. "It will definitely have a positive impact on Appitierre clients because we now have access to new support resources, more engineers and Intellum's product team, which will help us focus on pulling the Appitierre and Intellum products even closer together. But when Chip and I started talking about how we could build something better than SCORM, I knew we had found a new home.”

The two companies announced the news at the first annual Intellum Experience Summit (IXS), an invitation-only gathering of senior-level customer education, customer success, partner training, sales, marketing, product and employee learning professionals from large brands representing a wide range of industries. Attendees came together for this multi-day event to define the learning methodology and best practices that drive top-line revenue growth and customer retention. The goal of the first IXS event, which included Intellum customers, strategic partners, and other industry leaders, was to set the industry standards for the science of corporate learning.
